It's a Golden Globe kinda outfit!

This week was definitely crazy! I had work, assignments to give, tests to make and when all was done and I thought I could relax, the weekend of my Graduation came!!! Yes, that's right, I graduated this saturday!!! (technically I still have classes until end of the month and tests next month, but the ceremony was now) But that's not what I'm writing about today!

I was given the opportunity, by not only a colleague of mine but also a very dear friend, to attend the portuguese Golden Globes!!! I was so so happy, because I've always wanted to feel like a princess, so when she asked me if I wanted to, I immediately said yes...but then I was so scared...what would I wear??? How would I do my make-up? Well, answering the first question you can see this picture:

Taken at 4am when we got home from the party!
Being a student means I have a very tight budget and splurging on a dress just didn't seem right...but I was blessed enough to have an aunt who helped me and basically gave me half the money to buy the dress! Me and the Mr. went looking for dresses and had found the perfect one and immediately went back to the store once I had the money! This is my amazing dress:

For my hair I decided to do two small braids, pin them at the back of my head and curl the rest of the hair. I thought the curls wouldn't last but I found the most amazing hair spray for just about 4€ (review coming soon!)

Don't really know what I was doing....talking to the cat maybe? =P
Can you see how happy I was? These were taken right before we left the house to go to dinner before the event. Yep, we went all fancy dressed up to the American Diner in Lisbon!!

Oh, and of course the Mr went with me and since this is an important post, he'll (hopefully) be happy to make an appearance!! Doesn't he look dashing? I think I fell in love all over again just by seeing him all dressed up...I sure have a good looking boyfriend!

I will review the gowns I loved the most from the event, and the one's I didn't like so much! But that's gonna be on a different post!!

Thank you to all my friends who shared my excitement! A special hug to my friend S. who gave me the opportunity to go to this event and made one of my dreams come true!!

Have an amazing week guys! And come back for more about the Golden Globes Portugal!

A little personal ramble...

It is the last month of class and I'm officially starting to go crazy with everything there is to do! I have works to finish, presentations, essays to write and four tests...all in four weeks!!!

Right now I'm in class, my mind wandering to the written work I have to present this thursday and trying not to freak out about it...luckily I have great friends and an amazing boyfriend who is the best and always supports me no matter what, even when he's not totally ok, he's always there for me and I truly love him for that!

But all in all, I'm quite optimistic and trying to be as positive as I can possibly be! =D

So please bear with me while I can't write as much here! I have not forgotten about the blog (how could I? It's my baby!) and I have quite the news to share in about two weeks!!!

There are a couple of hauls coming, some tutorials, outfit pictures and also some (fun and exciting) changes!!

Jeans for the rectangle shaped woman!

Hey hey everyone!

Continuing talking about jeans and body shapes, I am today writing about jeans for the banana or rectangle shaped woman!

If you are new to the blog and don't know exactly what your body shape is, you might want to go check out post I wrote last year, giving you an introduction to the topic. And remember, you might be between two body shapes, so don't panic if you can't find one body shape that is exactly yours!

You are a banana or rectangle shaped woman if you have virtually no curves. You are basically a straight line from your shoulders to your hips and your waist is the same size or maybe one or two centimeters smaller. If you are tall and skinny, then you have what people usually call the "Model Body" and we all hate you! (I'm kidding, we don't really hate you!!!)

The good news is you can wear basically anything you want. The bad news is...well there is not really a bad news... What you want is to create the illusion of curves in your body and avoid hiding your body shape. You are beautiful and have to keep that in mind!

So, skinny jeans will look great on you without much thought. Try going to styles that have details in the hips and bum, so that you'll draw attention to that area, and it will make you seem like you have a curvy bottom. Flared out jeans will also look great on you, but go for a style that is just a bit flared out so you avoid looking like you are drowning in them. And again, look for details on your hips because it will give you the illusion of curves!

Oh, and unless you are blessed with some toned steel abs (and again, all of us who do sit-ups every day and still have the wobbles in our belly, wanna hate you) or are a teenager who still looks like a super model (enjoy those years sweetie =P) you should stay clear from low rise jeans. Instead, go for a mid rise that will look great on everyone and flatter you very much. And you will be comfortable as well!

I hope you liked this post! Let me know what you thought!

Inspirational Monday: You are perfect!

Hey hey everyone!

One of my main goals with the blog (and in my daily life) is to make people feel good about themselves and in their own skin and help girls be more confident. That is why I chose today's inspirational quote:

Sometimes people act differently because they want to be accepted or because they want to impress someone. I did that too, but somewhere along the way I realized that the wrong people would accept me and be impressed by me!

You are unique and beautiful and if you are yourself, the right people will accept you! Be yourself and I assure you that you will be happier than if you try to pretend and live a lie.

Have a great and happy week!

How to make a healthy fruit salad!

When the weather starts getting better outside, I start wanting more fresh foods! I love fresh fruits and fruit salads are one of my favorite ways of getting my 5 fruits a day!

Lately I've been craving strawberries and kiwis (and I've actually been taking them as a dessert with my lunch as well!) and I decided to throw them all together!

I don't really think we can call this a recipe, because I just really threw together what I had at home and voila!

What I used:

One banana
two kiwis
five strawberries

Slice it all in small pieces and you're done! Add some sugar if you feel like it =D

And the best way to serve it is with an ice-cold home made lemonade!

Have a good day!

Inspirational Monday: You are beautiful!

Hey hey everyone!

I've been so busy lately, I haven't even had time to post many things, but still, I don't ever want to stop posting Inspirational Mondays! Are you guys also in your last stretch of college? I have one and a half months to go and I'm on the verge of freaking out!!! But then again..I also think I can do it so..let's hope for the best!

This Monday I just want you to know this:

There is always someone who loves us. Just like we might love someone and not tell them, there is also someone out there that is also a bit shy. So when you feel down or sad or just a bit insecure, try to remember this and you might feel better!

Remember you're gorgeous, amazing and unique!

And don't forget to smile!!

Winner or Loser: Too Faced Mood Swing lip gloss

Hey hey everyone!!

I don't own many lip products, except for the one or other lipstick and gloss.. But when I saw this in the Sephora sale my local shop (ok...my Mr's local shop =P) was having, I had to try it out!

I'm usually not a big fan of Too Faced products...I have an eyeshadow palette I got some years ago and it was a major disappointment if you want me to be honest...the colors are dusty and not pigmented enough or too pigmented, have a lot of fallout and the staying power isn't all that good, even with a primer underneath..

So, when I got this product I was very nervous, not to say a bit afraid! It's called the "Mood Swing" and it's supposed to be an "Emotionally activated lip gloss". Meaning, it changed color depending on your mood!

When you take it out of the tube, it looks a very light pearly rose color, almost white!

But when you rub it in, it turns a pinkish color that can range from light pink to what they call "petal pink", which is a darker pink. It does try out pretty quickly on your lips, but doesn't give that drying feeling and still keeps the color!

All in all I like the packaging..it's not my favorite kind of package, but it's definitely not my least favorite! I also like the scent it had, quite sweet actually! And the color payoff isn't bad either!! I wouldn't buy it full prize though (here it costs 20€ full and I got it on sale for 7€) but for a sale product I think the prize was pretty good!

My verdict:
I don't consider this a winner nor a loser...so I guess we have another Linner!!!
(yes, it's a mixture of both words...I make up words..deal with it =P)

Have a great day!

Inspirational Monday: Life is like a Camera

Hey hey everyone!!

Another week has passed and it's time for another Inspirational Monday!

I must confess most of the quotes/pictures I post here on IM's are found while browsing on my Facebook. Nevertheless, I truly get inspired by them!!

This picture made me instantly smile..not just because the baby is so cute holding the camera, but also because this is one of the things I have been trying to do: focus on the good things in life, instead of letting myself get stuck in the bad ones!

Just like with a camera, in real life you also have second changes, new beginnings and new memories..if it doesn't go right the first time, then just take a second change!

The things worth keeping close to your heart are the good ones! You wouldn't frame a bad picture and hang it up in the middle of the living room, would you? But maybe you would keep said picture to remember never to make the same mistake again..it's just like that in real life! Keep the good memories...let go of the bad, but never forget them!

Mistakes are a way of learning what is right for us!

Have a great week!

A little update on my life!

Hey hey everyone!!

I was quite MIA this week and will probably not post very much in the next few weeks... It's the final 7 weeks until I end classes and I will have a lot to do, since I'm graduating this semester!

I'm scared and nervous and happy and terrified and insecure and it's been a roller-coaster of emotions regarding the whole graduation! Having a depression doesn't really help my case, as my panic attacks come and go without any warning and it has been crazy around here! But hey, at least it's not raining anymore!!! =D

Nevertheless, I wanted to let you know I have some pre-written posts ready to go and right now I have this little fella behind me on my bed doing weird noises while he sleeps (seriously, this is a crazy cat...he snores and all!)

Yesterday me, my Mr, our good friends Alex and Clara went with our friend Inês to this big event in Lisbon called IberAnime! It was my birthday gift to my Mr (who had birthday in the end of March) and even though it was full of people and I'm not really all that into the anime/manga scene, I actually kinda liked it!

I'm working on a post about it and beware, it's going to be loaded with pictures!!!

I hope you all are having an amazing weekend!

How to: Be and stay positive!

Hey hey everyone!!!

As I already stated in a previous post, I decided to make an advice series...this being because, well, my friends who read the blog told me to! Haha the reality is, I'm quite the adviser when it's needed and hey, why not share it here on the blog as well, right?

Well...one of the things I get asked the most is "How do you stay positive?" and quite honestly whenever someone asks me that I'm like "Have you met me?!"..the truth is, I might sound extremely positive on the blog...but in real life, I'm quite the pessimist...

That being said, no, I'm not being fake here on the blog when I post positive quotes...that's what I think and feel, everyone should be positive!! But I also know first hand how hard that can be!

Do I feel like everyone should try to see the best in themselves? Absolutely!! No questions asked, no second thoughts, it's a big fat YES! I do believe whenever I'm positive, things seem easier, but I just seem to get on the pessimist side of things sometimes...

So, what do I do when I'm being pessimistic, think the world's gonna end and that there is absolutely no way things are gonna go right? I cry. Yes, I cry!! For a while, then I call my Mr, when he's not with me at the moment, and proceed by "cralking" (term I just made up that means I cry and talk at the same time) for half an hour...that usually leads to him being really understanding and trying not to say the wrong thing that would make the crying worse, because then there would be really no way he would understand me ("cralking" is a rather difficult communication method to understand...).

Ok, seriously now, I cry, then I pick myself up, call friends, go on Facebook and talk to my besties, text my friend A so that he'll yell at me not to be so f*cking depressing and last but not least, I go on blogs I find inspiring, like Liesl's amazing blog, and read their inspiring posts over and over again!!

Bottom line is, it's ok not to be always positive, just like it is ok not to be always ok...lets be realistic, life's a bitch and sometimes likes to show it!! The trick, for me, is not to let myself get into that depressive state where I don't get out of bed (and look like a zombie when I do) and only eat chocolate. I surround myself with positive people who I know won't mind me being a bit down, like my friend Cat from my university! She's always there for me, even when her life's also being a bitch at the moment!! I mean, one day I had a breakdown at the uni and started crying and all of that and she was there holding my hand and giving me her shoulder and two hours later she was the one breaking down...that's true friendship right there!!!

Surround yourself with positive and supportive friends...and if you're surrounded by people who'll only put you down even more and not show any support, then I think it's time you change the people that you hang out with...It's hard and sometimes we think we're not good enough or are afraid to cut someone out of our lives because we think we won't find any other friends and will be alone...but the question you have to ask yourself is, are they really, truly your friends? I'm a firm believer of only letting some people in my life, my real private and personal life...and I can count them in two hands!!

Know who you are and more importantly, know you are worth it and you should have people in your life who love you for you and not someone who will put you down!

Do you struggle with being positive all the time? Let me know, I always like to know what you guys feel, so I don't feel so alone out there! =P

Have an amazing week!
